PTA, FIA conduct raids on illegal telecom exchanges

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have jointly conducted seven raids in Lahore against illegal telecom exchanges involved in ter-minating grey traffic. The joint activity was one of the biggest op-erations in the recent past.

During the simultaneous raids conducted at different locations across the City huge number of Gateways, GSM Tellulars, Switches, Routers, PCs and other accessories were confiscated, while two persons were apprehended. PTA has established highly advance technical monitoring system to identify such illegal activities throughout Pakistan. After identification of the illegal activity; En-forcement Division not only unearths the exact location of these networks, but also launches crack down with the help of FIA to sa-feguard national interests.

Chairman PTA, Dr Mohammed Yaseen's keen interests has helped enormously in achieving these results. PTA is after the grey traf-fickers since long and a team of highly technical professionals and dedicated workers checks and monitors illegal activities on twenty-four hours basis. It uses different procedures and processes to apprehend the culprits, not only to prevent losses to the national exchequer, but also to ensure severe punishment as per provision of the law.-PR
